2013-14 IEA Region 3 Finals

Congrats to all all five of our riders that qualified for the IEA Region 3 finals held in North Carolina this past weekend.
Logan Bishop was our first rider to compete of the day. Her first division was Varsity Open on the flat in which she drew a horse named Bucky. (Bucky looks like a big Elvis!!!!) This division was so large it was split into two sections. These sections combined had a total of 19 riders, in which Logan received a call back with 7 other riders to compete in the qualifying class held on Sunday. She then competed in the Varsity Open 2’6″ division. This class had 21 riders entered that was split into three sections. Logan rode a pretty bay gelding named Ripley and put in a really solid performance.
Our next rider of the day was Reagan Mentges in the Varsity Intermediate Equitation on the flat. This flat class had 19 riders and was also split into two sections. Reagan drew a pretty grey mare named GiGi. Reagan had a great draw and was able to show off her beautiful position!
Alexis Nuzzo was our next rider in the schedule. She competed in the Varsity Intermediate 2′ over fences. Alexis also drew Bucky, the buckskin gelding. This class had 18 riders to compete that were also split into two sections. Alexis and Bucky were a great team to demonstrate their skill to put in a steady trip.
Our last rider of the day was Abigail Bomar who competed in the Junior Varsity Novice Equitation on the flat. This class had 24 riders that were split up into three different sections. Abigail drew a sweet bay mare named Rhea. Abigail and Rhea really clicked and were able to give it all they had to show the judge they deserved to be there.

Abigail Best started the day off on the right foot with a very positive and dedicated ride with a 16 hand bay gelding named Otto. The pair competed over a course of crossrails in the Future Novice class. This class also had 18 riders split into two sections.
To finish our first IEA Regional Finals experience, Logan competed with the other top riders from her flat class the day before to determine which top three riders will qualify for Zone 3 Finals in April. With a lucky draw, she drew Ripley again for her flat class. This class was a “nail-biter” to watch. All the riders were on point. They demonstrated excellent and beautiful equitation. Logan won third place which means she will go going to Zone Finals in April!

All of Stonehouse Stable IEA team riders and regional qualified riders should be very proud of their performances this season.
