Bentley is Home! (UPDATED 6/19)

We have GREAT NEWS and an update on Bentley! After 3 ½ months and over $8000, not to mention doubts that he’d ever be cleared to come back to Virginia, Bentley is home at Stonehouse Stables in Toano!!! He looks terrific and his BIG sweet personality is the same as ever. I have so many people to thank for this team effort. The amazing folks at Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue for their extraordinary hard work to keep Bentley safe and happy. Tara Best and everyone at Stonehouse who held my hand, dried my tears and propped me up through the ups and downs of this LONG, emotional, wallet draining process. The many folks, both near and far, who supported Bentley financially and with acts of kindness.  Drs. Bartol & Gabour who ensured that Mr. B was totally clear of the infections he contracted while at the auction barn. Last, but certainly not least, my dear husband, John, who uncomplainingly paid the bills as they rolled in all too frequently.

Now, comes the challenge of finding this sweet guy the loving forever home that he deserves. He is 11, perfectly healthy and likes nothing better than hanging out with some buddies, a thorough grooming and some treats, lots of treats. If you know someone who could provide a safe place to enjoy life, please let me know.  I think he might make a nice occasional trail horse because he likes to be ridden, he just does not stay sound enough for jumping or performance work.  He is 100% pasture sound.  An occasional trail ride and this young man is right up your alley.

Stonehouse supporters, if you are able, please consider a financial donation to bring a member of our family, Bentley, back home.  Unknown to his mom, Susan, a longtime boarder at Stonehouse, Bentley was given away by his retirement farm in Virginia and ended up for auction in New Jersey.  Following swift and decisive action by Susan and Stonehouse, Bentley, rescued from the kill pen, is currently in quarantine at Hidden Pond Farm Equine Rescue in New Hampshire.  His needs right now are considerable (and mounting).  The cost of purchasing Bentley from auction, transport to the rescue in New Hampshire, medical care, board, and the cost of bringing him home to Stonehouse is substantial and any financial assistance – big or small – is appreciated!  Let’s bring our boy home!  Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide!
