If you see one of the Stonehouse Stable Equitation Team IEA Riders, be sure to congratulate them on a job well done this season.  AND be sure to wish those riders who qualified Good Luck at Regionals!

For those of you that have not heard, this was Stonehouse Stables’ first year hosting an IEA Team.  IEA stands for Interscholastic Equestrian Association.  Stonehouse Stables Equitation Team offered 8 Varsity slots and 5 Junior Varsity slots to Stonehouse Stables riders who are currently enrolled in 9-12 grade and 5 Futures slots to those riders that are currently enrolled in grades 6-8.  The key difference between the Stonehouse Stables IEA Team and the Stonehouse Stables Show Team is that the IEA team participants are not assigned to a particular horse to ride in their lessons and shows throughout the entire IEA season.  IEA Members that competed in IEA Rated shows rode a mount provided by the barn that was hosting the IEA show.  Therefore, each show exhibitor did not know what horse they would be riding until the Coaches meeting that took place 30 minutes before the start time of each IEA Rated Show.  To simulate this in practices, each member was assigned to a mount at random.  If you lease or own your own horse, you did not ride it in practices or in IEA rated shows.  These shows have been a great opportunity for IEA riders to focus on their equitation skills while learning to be adjustable while riding an unfamiliar horse.
